Our Story
The Alabama Affordable Housing Association (AAHA) is an Alabama non-profit organization whose members consist of property owners, contractors, architects, accountants, property management companies, investors, lenders, developers, and various vendors. Approximately 85,000 low-income Alabama residents live in over approximately 700 member properties.

Since AAHA’s inception, the AAHA Scholarship Fund, Inc. (Scholarship Fund) has awarded over half a million dollars in scholarships. All monies for the scholarships provided come from donations and the support of our members. Our goal is to increase our support network and enhance our ability to offer more scholarships in the future. As part of this effort, we are encouraging more long-term commitments and endowed scholarships.

The Scholarship Fund is a non-profit organization founded in 2000. The goal of the AAHA Scholarship Fund is to promote the improved quality of life for residents of affordable housing by increasing their educational opportunities. The organization believes that an increased educational level leads to greater self-sufficiency and improved employment opportunities.

During the 2024-2025 academic year, forty-nine students in the state of Alabama were awarded an AAHA Scholarship to help finance their college/vocational academic endeavors. Each year, the AAHA Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to individuals who are residents of Alabama. Furthermore, the organization also offers those previously awarded the unique opportunity for to renew their scholarship for an additional academic year. Each recipient is awarded a scholarship or renewal of $2,000 for the school year.

In addition, AAHA has celebrated seeing 18 of its recipients who earned an additional scholarship from the National CARH organization. As a National CARH Scholarship recipient, they received an additional $3,000 per year. AAHA winners of the National CARH Scholarship are then invited to Washington D.C. where they are honored for their academic achievements.
